Pot-distilled with a carefully curated mix of local and traditional botanicals, their spirits evoke the memory, allure and the warmth of the coast.
A firm favorite is the Pineapple Parfait Gin – a contemporary tropical fruit salad gin packed with flavour that tastes like a holiday.
It’s a tribute to those glorious pineapple parfait desserts that made visiting The Big Pineapple the best day ever.
“Sunshine & Sons is a feeling,” says CAVU Distilling Co-Founder Matt Hobson.
“It’s the feeling of salt air on your skin – the sun at your back.
“It’s the feeling of freedom, of escape, of what it’s like to get away. We call it the Coast spirit.
“The feeling you get when you walk down to any one of our incredible beaches or through the lush hinterland rainforest.
“When you know you are really in the best place on earth and in the place you are meant to be.
Warmth, and sunshine
“It’s about friendship, caring, listening, togetherness, warmth, and sunshine.”
You certainly get that feeling when you visit the distillery at Nambour Connection Road Woombye.
“It’s a place you can relax and soak up the sunshine whilst sipping on a delicious cocktail or two.
Take a tour of the distillery or taste some spirits whilst snacking on a Woombye cheese platter.
“We wish the world had more of The Coast Spirit,” says Matt.
“And, for our part, we’re committed to working hard every day to make it so.
“We love producing beautiful spirits, supporting community and preserving the beautiful environment where we have the privilege to live and work.”
Word is spreading
Meanwhile, word is spreading nation-wide.
The Coast spirit recently won gold at the 2023 Gin Distillers Association Awards and the 2023 Melbourne Royal Australian Distilled Spirits Awards for Original Dry Gin.
The Barrel Aged Gin also received a gold medal at the 2023 Gin Distillers Associate Awards.
The Distillery is open every day from 10am until sunset for tours, tastings and cocktails on their rainforest-surrounded terrace.
