It is just what the hinterland’s avid golfing enthusiasts have been waiting for- next month’s Rotary Charity Golf Day. On Monday, October 6 (public holiday long weekend), Nambour Golf Club will be hosting this special community amateur golf day, with preparation for the event already underway. The event’s organiser are very eager to help raise funds and awareness for a number of Sunshine Coast charities, including the Katie Rose Hospice, a local community palliative care nursing service. Event organiser Gerald Robertson said, “We just want to raise some money for local charities. Katie Rose Hospice is such a great cause, but there are many causes worth helping. This year we aim to help a number of local charities.”
The day is set for a 8.30am shotgun start, a golf tournament format in which all groups of players tee off simultaneously from different holes, reducing wait times between tees. The day has been specially designed to caters to golfers of all skill levels, insuring that, whether you are a novice or a master, you are sure to have fun. The ‘Game of the Day’ is Four Ball Ambrose- with ‘fun’ internal competitions to ensue.
The event is set to have two amateur ‘hole in one’ holes, giving attendees the opportunity to ‘go for gold’. Sink the ball in one on these special holes and have the chance to win big. Sink it in one on the 10th hole to win $5000, a hole in one on the 14th hole will see you take home $10,000, thanks to Nambour Heights Shopping Centre for sponsoring the ‘hole in one’ event.
For the very reasonable $40 per person attendees are set for an excellent golfing day out, have the chance to make some new friends and raise funds for Sunshine Coast charities.
